The Hanson Residence is a new custom home designed around everyday living, connection to the outdoors, and a straightforward approach to construction. The plan brings the primary living spaces together at the center of the home while providing separation between the bedroom areas and primary suite. Covered decks extend the living space outdoors and respond to the rural setting.
Design Story
The design uses a simple residential form with a raised central roof to create volume and daylight in the main living spaces. Lower roof forms extend outward to shelter the perimeter decks and reinforce the horizontal character of the house. Inside, changes in ceiling height help define the living, dining and primary-bedroom spaces without unnecessarily complicating the floor plan.
The result is a practical home organized around how it is lived in—open where the family gathers, private where separation matters, and closely connected to the outdoor spaces surrounding it.
